Contact Information

Welcome to my website.  I hope it provides you with the information you need in order to assess whether I may be of assistance in resolving your commercial dispute. I have also included on this site many downloadable articles and other resources relating to arbitration and litigation that may be of interest.

In January 2010, I moved my practice to 141 Adelaide Street West, Toronto.  My new offices are in space that is shared with other arbitrators and a leading court reporting service which is able to provide conveniently located, up-to-date hearing rooms and all necessary support.

Please contact me directly (see contact page) for any services you may require.

For those who are not familiar with my practice, my services are provided in two categories: work as a neutral and work as counsel:

Neutral Work

Most of my new work consists of acting as an arbitrator or mediator in commercial and complex disputes, in all institutional and ad hoc settings.

When I am contacted to discuss the possibility of my serving as the chair of a tribunal, sole arbitrator or mediator I prefer to be contacted, at the same time, by counsel for all parties (or by party appointed tribunal members). Alternatively, the person who contacts me should indicate that he or she is doing so with the permission of the other parties.  When I am being contacted to serve as a tribunal member, it is my strict policy not to discuss the merits of the case or any issues that might require adjudication even if the appointment would be as the nominee of a party to the dispute.

Please see my standard terms of appointment which are available on this website.

Counsel Work

I no longer carry on a general counsel practice.  I have a number of ongoing matters which I am seeing to a conclusion.  I occasionally take on a new counsel matter that is of particular interest and that can be handled consistently with my arbitration commitments.

My counsel work is done:

i. in collaboration with law firms or other specialists, on a case by case basis, where that is required, or

ii. independently, in assignments where little or no support is required (e.g. second opinions or limited retainers).

Qualifications

Please see other pages on this website for information regarding my professional background, qualifications and contact details.

I look forward to working with you.
